Between the Louvre and Place de la Concorde — 28 hectares of bench-and-tree.
Catherine de Medici planted these gardens in 1564. They've been free public space ever since. Stop here on the walk from the Louvre to Place de la Concorde; the green chairs near the central fountain are the best free seats in Paris.
